The Assamese month is solar: Bohag opens when the Sun enters Mesha in mid-April, and each month lasts as long as the Sun spends in one sidereal sign. A month opens the day after its sankranti (the Bengal rule), so the sankranti day is the old month's last: Goru Bihu is the last day of Chot, Kati Bihu the last of Ahin and Magh Bihu the last of Puh, and Rongali Bihu is Bohag 1, the Assamese New Year. The sankranti is the Surya Siddhanta's, as in the traditional almanacs and the Assam government's own calendar — not the modern one the site's other calendars use, which runs two to fifteen hours earlier and would open about one month in three a day early (Drik Panchang's default Assamese panjika does). This reckoning reproduces 50 of the 52 month starts and Bihu days the state's holiday notifications print for 2018-2026; the other two, Bhada and Ahin 2026, have a sankranti within an hour of midnight, where two almanacs can differ, and are printed on the state's day. Drik Panchang's Assamese panjika, set to its Surya Siddhanta reckoning, opens every month of 2026 and 2027 on the same day as this page. The year is the Bhaskarabda, which turns at Bohag 1 (1433 from 15 April 2026). Tithi festivals are computed from modern ephemerides at Guwahati and kept where they match the state's 2024-2026 lists: Janmashtami is the Krishna Ashtami of the solar month Bhada, and Kali Puja carries Diwali, as the state keeps them. Left off: the Tirubhav and Janmotsav tithis of Srimanta Sankardeva and Sri Sri Madhavdeva (a sunrise reckoning misses the state's day for Sankardeva's Tirubhav Tithi in three years of four, and the rule is not yet known), Bwisagu (kept with Bohag Bihu by the Bodo community, with no day of its own on the state's list), Deuri Bihu and the restricted holidays of other communities, and the civic days (Lachit Divas, Asom Divas). Assamese month names: Bohag, Jeth, Ahar, Saon (Xaon), Bhada (Bhado), Ahin, Kati, Aghon (Aghun), Puh, Magh, Phagun, Chot (Sot).
Tithi and nakshatra are read at sunrise at Guwahati, which is the moment that names a Vedic day. Sunrise differs across India by well over an hour, so the day a tithi names can differ between two cities — the times on this page are this city's, and are computed from the Swiss Ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the same engine the rest of the site uses. Festival days follow each observance's own deciding moment: pradosh for Deepavali, nishita for Shivaratri, madhyahna for Ganesh Chaturthi, and sunrise for the rest.
Month names, weekday names and the section labels above are in অসমীয়া. Tithi and nakshatra names are in অসমীয়া, from the reviewed tables the site's other pages in this language use. Festival names appear in অসমীয়া where that tradition has an established name and in English otherwise.
There is no PDF file to download: every date here is computed when the page is requested rather than exported once, so a file would start going stale the moment it was written. The month grid at the top of each month page prints on one sheet on its own — use the browser's Print and choose “Save as PDF” to keep a copy.
Assamese calendar 2026 · common questions
How many months does the Assamese calendar 2026 have?
Twelve, and each has its own page above. The Assamese month is solar — the month runs from one sidereal sign ingress to the next, so it does not line up with a Gregorian month and changes partway through one.
What is the first festival of 2026 in the Assamese calendar?
Uruka (the eve of Magh Bihu) on 13 January 2026.
Which city are the Assamese calendar 2026 timings for?
Guwahati. Sunrise decides which day a tithi names and it differs across India by well over an hour, so a calendar without a stated city is a calendar for nowhere.
Is there a Assamese calendar 2026 PDF download?
There is no PDF file to download: every date is computed when the page is requested, so an exported file would begin going stale immediately. Each month page opens with a grid that prints on one sheet — use the browser's Print and “Save as PDF”.
