Spaces and country codes are fine. At least six digits are required.

Only the digits are used

Only the digits are used. A country code changes the answer because it adds more digits, so compare the number exactly as you normally write or share it.

  1. Keep digits only; spaces, brackets, and plus signs carry no value.
  2. Add every retained digit and show the unreduced total.
  3. Add the digits of that total repeatedly until one digit from 1 to 9 remains.

Worked example: format changes the root

9876543210 totals 45 and reduces to 9. Including India's 91 country code makes the total 55, which reduces to 1. Neither is universally correct: use the format whose result you intend to compare.

A root number is a traditional association shared by many millions of numbers. It cannot measure call quality, safety, ownership, or future events.

Questions people ask

Should I include the country code?

Use the version you use most often, then compare the other format if needed. Adding +91 changes the digit total.
