Jupiter transit

Guru Gochar — where Jupiter is now, and every ingress date

Jupiter now

Since 2 June 2026

Cancer

Jupiter is in Cancer. The next change is Jupiter entering Leo on 31 October 2026.

Next: Jupiter enters Leo on Saturday, 31 October 2026

Jupiter crosses one sign in about a year, so its gochar changes the chart's slow background roughly every twelve months. The dates below are real ingresses, including the retrograde re-entries that make some years carry two.

The first and last rows are clipped by the window this page renders, not by an ingress — Jupiter was in the first sign before the table starts and stays in the last one after it ends.

How these gochar dates are produced

Sidereal (Lahiri) longitudes from Swiss Ephemeris, stepped a day at a time, with every sign crossing narrowed to the minute. That means a boundary here is the real ingress rather than an artifact of where the walk happened to start.

Jupiter turns retrograde once a year and can slip back into the sign it just left. Those re-entries are listed as their own rows rather than folded away, because the fold would print a window Jupiter was not continuously inside.

An ingress is one instant everywhere on Earth; the calendar date it lands on is not. A crossing at 00:40 IST is the previous day in London. Every date on this page is IST, and the instant is printed next to it so a reader in another zone can convert rather than guess.

For what the tradition reads into a transit, see the gochar guide. For where a transit falls in your chart, which is what decides anything, start with a free Kundli. Today's full Panchang.

Transit guidance here is a traditional framework for reflection and planning, not medical, legal or financial advice. Nothing on this page predicts an event, and no timing is a reason to delay medical care.

Guru Gochar questions, answered

Which sign is Guru (Jupiter) in right now?

Jupiter is in Cancer. The next change is Jupiter entering Leo on 31 October 2026.

Are these dates the same in every panchang?

The ingress instant is astronomy and is not in dispute. The date it falls on can differ by one day between sources, because an ingress near midnight lands on different calendar days in different timezones. Every date on this page is in Indian Standard Time, and the exact instant is shown so you can check it yourself.

Why does the same sign appear twice?

Because the planet re-entered it. Outer planets turn retrograde each year and can cross back over a sign boundary they have already passed. Each crossing is a real ingress, so each gets its own row.

What does a transit actually mean?

It means the planet has moved into a new sign of the zodiac. What the tradition reads into that depends entirely on where the sign falls in your own chart, which is why no transit has one meaning for everybody.
