• 5 May Tuesday — the rules never fix a vehicle purchase on a Tuesday or a Saturday.
• 6–7 May The Moon is in Mula, Purva Ashadha and Uttara Ashadha — none of them among the 12 nakshatras permitted for vehicle purchase.
• 8 May A permitted nakshatra falls only in Krishna Saptami, which the rules exclude for vehicle purchase.
• 9 May Saturday — the rules never fix a vehicle purchase on a Tuesday or a Saturday.
• 12 May Tuesday — the rules never fix a vehicle purchase on a Tuesday or a Saturday.
• 13 May A permitted nakshatra falls only in Krishna Dwadashi, which the rules exclude for vehicle purchase.
• 15 May The Moon is in Ashwini and Bharani — none of them among the 12 nakshatras permitted for vehicle purchase.

• Where these rules come from: the vehicle-purchase rules that the two largest computed almanacs share — the same nakshatras, tithis and weekdays. Both lists were checked for New Delhi across 2026 and 2027, and every date either prints is on this page.
• Weekday: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday (the Vedic weekday, which changes at sunrise). Never Tuesday or Saturday.
• Nakshatra: the Moon in one of these 12 — Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha and Revati.
• Tithi: Pratipada, Tritiya, Panchami, Shashti, Ashtami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Trayodashi of either fortnight, and Purnima. Never Dwitiya, Chaturthi, Saptami, Navami, Dwadashi, Chaturdashi or Amavasya.
• Season: none. Neither computed vehicle list closes Kharmas, Chaturmas or a month, nor applies Guru or Shukra asta; only an adhika month is closed. Adhika Jyeshtha, an adhika month, runs from 17 May 2026 to 15 June 2026.
• Rahu Kaal: many families also avoid Rahu Kaal on the day of the purchase or the first drive. The windows here do not cut it out; check the day's Rahu Kaal for your city.
• The movable nakshatras: Punarvasu, Swati, Shravana, Dhanishta and Shatabhisha are the chara (movable) stars, the ones most often named for a vehicle; the rest are the fixed, soft and swift stars both lists also allow.
• The day: sunrise to the next sunrise, for New Delhi. A day any closed period touches is left out whole; inside the days that remain, the muhurat is the time when every condition above holds at once, for at least 20 minutes.
• Not checked here: the buyer's own chart (the Moon's place from the birth sign, the fourth house) and the lagna at the moment of purchase.
