Ketu · 9th House (Dharma/Fortune/Father)
Ketu in the 9th House
In the house of dharma and the father Ketu questions belief: the classical texts read distance or difficulty with the father or teachers and a faith that departs from tradition, while also giving a philosophical, spiritual mind and an interest in pilgrimage.

- 9th House (Dharma/Fortune/Father) — Dharma, religion, luck, father, guru, higher education, long journeys.
- The planet
- Ketu: the Moon's south node, a shadow planet — the significator of detachment, intuition, spirituality, research and sudden separations; like Rahu it gives the results of its sign lord and of its house

Rahu sits in the 3rd, adding courage.
Its fortune grows through independent spiritual study; respect for elders steadies it.
Which sign falls in the 9th house depends on the lagna, and the sign changes Ketu's strength there. For a Pisces (Meena) lagna this house holds Scorpio (Vrishchika), where Ketu is exalted; for a Virgo (Kanya) lagna it holds Taurus (Vrishabha), where it is debilitated. The texts disagree on the nodes' exaltation signs; the table follows the convention the site's kundli uses, and a node also gives the results of its sign lord.

Ketu mahadasha runs 7 years. This placement speaks most clearly then — in Ketu's own mahadasha, in its antardashas inside other mahadashas, and in the dasha of the lord of the 9th house. Saturn's and Jupiter's transits over this house, or over the planet itself, wake it too.

- Chant the Ketu mantra: Om Sraam Sreem Sraum Sah Ketave Namah. Sit facing east after sunrise — Tuesday is the strongest day for it. Chant 4 malas a day (432 repetitions), keeping count on a 108-bead mala. Keep it up for 40 days without a break — that completes the traditional 17,000.
- Give a Ketu donation. Give horse gram, multicoloured cloth, blanket on Tuesday, before noon. Offer it to a sadhu, or feed a stray dog, or to anyone in genuine need. Give quietly, in person, without expecting thanks.
- Daily practice for Ketu. Care for dogs; keep faith in what you cannot yet see. Keep it up every day for 40 days — consistency is the remedy.
